Edward (Ted) Charles Willcox

– 1914 ~ 2009 –

With great sadness we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) Charles Willcox on October 13th, 2009. Ted was born in Winnipeg in 1914. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to North Vancouver where Ted was raised.

He graduated from UBC in 1945 with an Honours degree in Chemistry. He began his career with Crown Zellerbach in Ocean Falls, B.C. and then moved to Nanaimo where he worked as Chief Chemist for Harmac Pulp Mill for 31 years.

Ted was predeceased by his wife Every in 2004. He leaves behind his three children: Karen (Bob) Squire, Jan (Bob) Lindsay and Bob (Alice) Willcox; grandchildren: Brad, Brent and Kristen; Shona, Leanne and Darin; Kate and Michael; great grandchildren: Jack and Chase, Alexis and Justin, Lucas and Hailee. He also leaves behind his brother, Alan Willcox and wife Cec and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Nanaimo Seniors Village for the special care that they gave to Ted.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Church, 6234 Spartan Road, Nanaimo, B.C.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made, in Ted’s name, to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation.
