BROWN,

DOUGLAS Alexander


A native son of Ladysmith, BC passed away in the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, on September 3rd, 2009. Born in Ladysmith, BC on August 20th, 1937, age 72 years. Predeceased by his parents Alex and Edith Brown, and his brother David. Survived by his loving wife Hilda, daughters; Kathy Brown, and Kim Graczyk (John) of Ladysmith BC, grandchildren; Tara Hicks (Paul Amann) of Watson Lake, BC, Meagan Hicks, and Steven Graczyk both of Ladysmith, BC, great grandchildren; Jaedyn, Mercedez, and Parker, brother; Allen Brown (Pat) of Powell River, BC, and sister; Bernice Wallace (Bill) of Winfield, BC. Douglas served in the Canadian Air Force, then working in Chemainus for MacMillan & Bloedel until 1982, then to Harmac until his retirement. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 2101, Ladysmith, BC. Air Cadets, Ladysmith Hospital Board, Hospital, and R.CM.P. Auxiliary, Alderman for the Town of Ladysmith, and past member of the Chemainus Rotary Club. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of all those lives he touched.

“Gone Fishin”

Private family inurnment will be held in the Ladysmith Cemetery, on Friday, September 11th, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family for refreshments and fellowship at the Eagles Hall between 12:00 noon and 3:00p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. In memory of Douglas, those so desiring may make contributions to the A.L.S. Society of BC, 1007 Bramfield Place, Brentwood Bay, BC V8M 1A4.
