Hunter, Dorothy Vivian (Kilborn)

July 12, 1924 ~ January 20, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Andrew on January 7, 1985 and siblings Harvey, Mabel, Velma, Sharkey and Gladys.

Dorothy will be missed by her daughter Judy (Roger) Stacey, grandchildren Steven (Laurie), Heather, special great grandchildren Andrew and Owen, sister-in-law Lou Kilbourne, brother Art (Ilene) Kilbourne, brother-in-law John Harrison, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Agnes Cotton and Faye Brooks.

Dorothy served in the Navy (WRENS) during WWII. During this time she met Andrew. They married on Valentines Day, 1946 in Portage La Prairie and then moved to Nanaimo, where they enjoyed a happy life.

She was a 30-year member of the NRGH Auxiliary. She knit all of the Lamb Chop puppets they sold! She was also a member of the Moose Lodge and the Bowen Seniors group.

A special thank you to the staff at Malaspina Gardens, where she resided for the past 10 years and to Dr Earle Weisenburger for all of the exceptional care of Mom.

No service by request. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. For those so desiring, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Society.
