David Arthur Jordan

September 12, 1944 - August 30, 2005

David was born and raised in Nanaimo and died after a courageous battle with cancer. He is lovingly remembered by Dianne, his wife of 38 years, his daughters Lisa and Kimberley, mother Jean Jordan, brothers John Jordan (Tina) and Philip Jordan (Marilynn), and sister and brother-in-law Carol and Denis McNamee. He was predeceased by his father, Wib Jordan. David moved to Prince George but returned to Nanaimo with his family in 1984. David loved the challenges and responsibilities of working as a consultant in the Pulp and Paper Industry and valued the opportunities of traveling throughout the world. His love of travel was shared with his wife and together they enjoyed numerous adventures. Although David worked in Vancouver, he traveled BC Ferries every week to return to Nanaimo, to his family and home. David’s priorities never faltered: his family first, his job next, and himself last. His strength and courage to face the things that can’t be changed was an inspiration to all who knew him. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff of both the palliative care unit at NRGH, and the Home Care staff that worked to make David's last days dignified and peaceful. A special thanks to Dr. John Whitelaw who provided the family with support, help, and hope.

Memorial service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel (1 Newcastle Ave.) on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH or Home and Community Care in Nanaimo.
