DANIEL WOODS

Daniel passed away at Vancouver General Hospital on June 29, 2010 at the age of 81. He is survived by Nan, his loving wife of 58 years, as well as his children: Daniel, Ian and Cathy; his grandchildren: Ian, Michael and James; and his great-grandchildren: Carter, Alexis, Connor, Ethan and Ava.

Daniel served as a professional fire-fighter for 36 years, reaching the rank of Deputy-Chief before a well-earned retirement. He had a marvelous sense of humour and could tell wonderful stories of his exciting life and his adventures while in the army, and later, racing motorcycles, cars, flying airplanes and sailing. He enjoyed working in his machine shop and could repair almost anything. He loved music and played many instruments including the drums, accordion, bagpipes, keyboards, saxophone, clarinet and trumpet. He also enjoyed painting landscapes and making metal and wooden figures. He was active right until the end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

A Funeral Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Ave., on Thursday, July 8th at 10:00 a.m. with visitation on Wednesday, July 7th from 6:00 p.m. ‘til 7:00 p.m.
