CHARLES DENDOFF (CHICK) FORT passed away peacefully at 90 years of age on September 16, 2006 at Dufferin Place. Born in Nanaimo February 17, 1916. Predeceased by his wife Thelma in 2001. He is survived by son Joe (Val) Fort, daughters Ila Kephart (Gunter) and Deanna (Larry) Maughan. 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. Sisters Camille (Ed) Murray, Marie Ryan and brother Phil Fort Jr. Several nieces and nephews.
Chick was a well known local contractor and was a member of the Harewood Fire Department. He also worked at Harmac retiring 25 years ago. He and Thelma enjoyed many years boating, traveling south for winters and camping with their friends. Chick enjoyed the Bowen Park Seniors entertainment Thursday afternoons. A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Nanaimo Yacht Club, 400 Newcastle Ave at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chick’s name may be made to the SPCA.
