Catherine was born May 28th 1926 in London England. She moved to Little Hampton, England in 1936 with her 3 brothers, mother and father. Catherine met her husband Douglas Barnes during world war 2. They fell in love, married and moved to Gravenhurst, Ontario in 1945 with their first born child Michael Barnes.

Her life work included, retail, housekeeping, modelling, secretarial work and countless hours of volunteer work. Her volunteer work included the 256 and branch 10 legion.

Her membership at the legion commemorated 50years which she received a pin for her hard work and dedication to the Royal Canadian Legion. She was a part of the War Brides Association for over 20 years.

If anyone knew to how assemble herself and put themselves together it was Catherine. She possessed, charisma, charm, wit and elegance. Between being a perpetual 49 and holding and her famous saying "If Hollywood calls Darling tell them I"ll be right back!" Her style was undeniably, one in a million.

Her strength, courage, laughter and ability to teach us not to take life too seriously will stay in our hearts forever. She was an inspiration to all of us and lived life to the fullest. If life fed you apples she made applesauce. She took life as it came and made the best of every situation.
