TAIT, BRUCE 1922 ~ 2009

It is with sadness, but some comfort that we announce Dads recent struggles are over. Dad passed peacefully with courage and dignity with his family at his side.

Dad was predeceased by our mom Edith, “A VERY SPECIAL LADY”, his wife for 55 years. He is survived by his brother Alf; his daughter Dianne (Dave), his sons, Donald (Cathy), Greg (Sonja), and Jeff (Cheryl); grandchildren: Erin, Shawna, Garrett, Robin, Maxine and many nieces and nephrews.

Dad was born and raised in Nanaimo. He left, to serve in the RCAF and after the war received his engineering degree from UBC. This was followed by several years of moving around BC building bridges for the new highway system. He then returned home and spent the rest of his career running his own engineering firm working on many projects that helped Nanaimo grow from a small town to a city.

Beyond his family, Dads great love was flying. His pride and joy was his vintage Tiger Moth Aircraft which he restored, maintained and flew, keeping his license active up until his recent illness. It will continue to fly along with Dads spirit.

The family joins his friends at Origin, The Rotary Club, The Coffee Club, Probis, The Aircrew Association, The Welsh Association, The Church and the Community in wishing Dad a pleasant Journey.

The family welcomes all Dads friends to join them for a graveside service at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 followed by a reception at Cottonwood Golf Club.
