Bruce Charles Robert MacFARLANE

MacFarlane, Bruce Charles Robert. Suddenly, the loving son of Charles and Elizabeth, born September 18, 1951 passed peacefully on August 18, 2002. Survived by his devoted wife Adele, daughters Carla and Angela (Jeremy) Baylis, son Charlie, sister Cindy (Greg) Mills and brother Selby (Shari). Father-in-law Delbert Bertrand, brothers-in-law, Duane (Sherri), Brian and Greg, sister-in-law Cindy (Dr. Wayne) Wickert, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. After attending Esquimalt High School, Bruce spent six years with the Northern Transportation Company where he became a tug boat captain. He returned to Victoria and became a volunteer fire fighter with the Colwood Fire Department while managing the Colwood Dairy Queen, then moved his family to Nanaimo where he spent twenty years with the Nanaimo Fire Department. Bruce enjoyed devoting his time to his passion of baseball, as a coach and manager of various local teams in the Nanaimo area. A Memorial Service will be held at Serauxman Stadium, in Nanaimo, August 22nd at 1:00 p.m. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, August 21 between 6-9 pm at Parksville Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville. Donations on Bruce’s behalf may be made to the B.C. Head Injury Association, Nanaimo Fire Department Burn Unit or Nanaimo Premier Pirates. Dear Bruce, our Bruce, your spirit will keep MacFarlanes’ lantern shining bright- and warm our hearts forever. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Captain Dan Rogers and all the fire fighters of Nanaimo, baseball family and to all the friends of Bruce’s family for their kindness, love and support they have given. “LOCH SLOY”
