Reid, Alexander Williamson
January 1913-November 2005
Died peacefully on November 9th, 2005 in Nanaimo. Predeceased by Ruth, his loving wife of 60 years and his daughter Ruth Kochanowski (Chris), Alex is survived by his son Michael (Julia) and grandson James. Dad will be missed by Joyce and Elmer Elliott and his large extended family in Ontario, relatives and friends in Scotland and on Vancouver Island. He retired from the Vancouver Police Force as a member of the Homicide and Robbery Squad after 28 years of exemplary service. Alex was also a member of the Taurus unit of the Canadian Legion. His hobbies were furniture making, gardening, fishing and golf. He will be missed for his stories of youthful adventures, wartime London and the life of a detective in Vancouver as well as for his sense of humour. A special thanks to the second floor staff of Nanaimo Seniors Village for their excellent care and attention. No service by request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alex's honour to the BC Kidney Foundation. Cremation has taken place with First Memorial Funeral Services in Nanaimo, BC.
