A sport-utility vehicle flipped after colliding with another sport-ute on Monday near Terminal Park Mall.

The crash happened at about 11 a.m. at the intersection of Princess Royal Avenue, St. George Street and the old Island Highway.

A witness said the Ford SUV was travelling north on the highway and a GMC sport-ute was travelling westbound from Princess Royal Avenue when the collision occurred. The Ford SUV went onto the median and onto two tires before flipping.

“No one was hurt. One lady was taken up to hospital, just for observation, just for safety’s sake,” said Brad Wood, assistant chief of operations with Nanaimo Fire Rescue.

Both northbound lanes of the highway were closed as emergency crews attended and cleared the scene.
