Arrowsmith Search and Rescue helped locate two disoriented hikers in Englishman River Falls Provincial Park this past weekend.

The hikers called 911 after they lost their way somewhere upstream from the park at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday.

SAR dispatched crews to the park and sent other members in all-terrain vehicles to search the Northwest Bay Logging Division, where people who got lost had been found in the past.

Jennifer Hoard of the SAR said that they used a technology developed by Michael Coyle from Coquitlam Search and Rescue to locate the hikers. The software was able to accurately determine their location via their cellphone.

The SAR team helped the hikers out of the park, with the lost trekkers indicating they were only prepared for a short walk around the park. Hoard said they were tired, wet and cold but still in good shape.
