Road closures in downtown Nanaimo for fireworks Saturday night

With fireworks for Bathtub Days being displayed between 7 p.m. and midnight Saturday (July 22), the City of Nanaimo is reminding residents about road closures downtown.

Drivers coming to and from the parkade at Bastion Street must do so through Terminal Avenue, with no exceptions, said Jamie Rose, acting manager of transportation, in a press release.

In addition the following roads will be closed:

  • Newcastle Avenue/Dawes Street, from Stewart Avenue to Newcastle Avenue
  • Bryden Street, from Stewart Avenue to Newcastle Avenue
  • Mt. Benson Street, from Stewart Avenue to Newcastle Avenue
  • Rosehill Street, from Stewart Avenue to Newcastle Avenue
  • Front Street/Comox Road, northbound curb lane closed from Esplanade to Terminal Avenue
  • Skinner Street, from Bastion Street to entrance of Bastion Street Parkade
  • Cliff Street, from Comox Road to Campbell Street
