The show will go on for Harbour City Theatre Alliance, which has earned a two-year extension to manage the community performing arts centre on Victoria Road.

Nanaimo city council gave the organization a two-year extension in its licence of use agreement for the Harbour City Theatre and an $11,350 annual operating grant during an open meeting Monday.

In 2014, the City of Nanaimo inked a three-year deal with the alliance to see it manage what was then Nanaimo Centre Stage. The agreement is set to expire this June, but allows for an extension, which the alliance has asked for, according to a city staff report.

The city also plans to change the agreement to more concisely lay out the city and alliance’s responsibilities for repair and maintenance.
