Five people were forced from their home and two men were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire early Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from Nanaimo Fire Rescue, crews responded to a fire on Beach Drive at 2:45 a.m. and quickly contained the fire, limiting the amount of damage to the residence.
The smoke alarm in the home alerted the residents, who were sleeping.
The two men were treated on scene and did not require transportation to hospital.
Fire investigators were at the residence later Tuesday morning to determine the cause of the fire.
