An automated telephone audit aims to evaluate how thoroughly the Nanaimo News Bulletin is reaching its readers.

The calls will be coming from a U.S.-based phone number, according to Black Press regional circulation manager Marilou Pasion, who adds the survey of Nanaimo households is not spam. It’s part of an Island-wide circulation survey for Black Press.

“These are legitimate phone calls,” Paison said. “It’s part of our continuing way of making sure our papers are getting out. It’s quality control.”

Alliance for Audited Media, a non-profit, member-based organization that provides independently verified data and information services, will conduct the audit April 3-10, reaching out to approximately 10 per cent of households in the News Bulletin’s circulation area.

Respondents will be asked if they regularly receive a free copy of the News Bulletin; those who don’t will be asked if anyone in their household has ever asked that delivery be stopped.

Follow-up calls will be made to households where there is no answer or a hang-up.
