A collision between a car and a boat tied up northbound traffic on the Island Highway near Cassidy on Monday afternoon.

A Volkswagen Jetta and a boat being towed on a trailer were involved in the crash, which happened shortly after 3 p.m.

The force of the collision tore the metal off the driver’s side door and all the airbags in the car deployed when it struck the concrete divider in the centre of the highway.

Ron Gueulette, Cassidy Volunteer Fire Department chief, said the woman driving the Volkswagen appeared to have suffered a minor head injury.

No one else was injured and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
