The District of Lantzville is once again without a top bureaucrat, following the resignation of acting chief administrative officer Fred Manson.

Trudy Coates, Lantzville’s director of corporate administration, said that council accepted Manson’s resignation effective Wednesday. Being as Manson was hired in the interim and on a contract, there won’t be compensation and the district will continue with the search for a permanent replacement.

“He had been with us since the end of September, hadn’t anticipated it was going to go on this long and thinks he’s got us close to the end here, as council is interviewing currently, so hopefully we’ll have some new announcement to make in the next [little while],” said Coates.

Since 2015, the district has seen a number of permanent and temporary chief administrators come and go, including Twyla Graff, Jim Dias, Brad McRae, who is currently City of Nanaimo chief operations officer, Manson and Darren Kiedyk.

In the case of Kiedyk, he accepted the position in December, but quit before his first day to take the deputy CAO position with the City of Langford.
