Motorcyclist airlifted to Victoria after Tuesday morning crash

A motorcyclist is in critical condition in Victoria General Hospital following an accident in south Nanaimo Tuesday.

The accident happened short before 10 a.m. when a man in his 30s crashed his motorcycle after apparently losing control of the machine.

Police said the man was thrown a considerable distance and came to rest in front of the Sea Breeze Mobile Home Park at 10 Maki Rd.

The victim was rushed to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital where he was treated before being airlifted to Victoria General Hospital later in the day.

Police reported he was still listed in critical condition Wednesday morning.

No other vehicles or people were involved and Nanaimo RCMP's Municipal Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation into the crash.
