Sand sculptors Fred Dobbs, left, and Craig Mutch of Craig Mutch Creations, build a sand sculpture at Woodgrove Centre Friday. The sculpture, inspired by local author and illustrator Dianna Bonder, depicts characters from her book A.B. Sea – A Deep Sea Symphony.

The sculpture, completed Wednesday, will be on display until Aug. 6 and was created to help Woodgrove Centre celebrate the opening of the Nanaimo North Branch of the Vancouver Island Public Library.
