A microchip can improve chances of finding a lost pet.

To help swing the odds in favour of local pet owners, Island Veterinary Hospital will hold the 2014 Microchip Clinic and Summer Fun Fair Saturday (June 21) 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Nanaimo SPCA, located at 2200 Labieux Rd.

For $25 your pet will be tagged with a microchip for fast and easy recognition should they ever become lost. Pets will also receive a free examination, plus nail trimming will also be available by donation.

Throughout the day the SPCA will also be host a barbecue and buffet by donation, a fair featuring a dunk tank, cake walk, face painting, bean bag toss, crafts, rubber ducky fishing and more. Fair activities are by ticket purchase.

Mini Party Animals will also be on site with Puppy, a miniature pony for petting and pictures.
