No school for Nanaimo students on Monday

There won't be classes for Nanaimo school district students Monday (June 2) as teachers are scheduled to take part in another round of rotating strikes.

As with last Tuesday, schools will be open, there won't be instruction and buses won't run. The school district is asking parents keep children home for safety reasons.

The school district recommends checking its website, at www.sd68.bc.ca, its Facebook page and Twitter feed (@sd68bc) for up-to-date information.

The strikes will also rotate through various school districts on Tuesday (June 3), Thursday and Friday, with no action planned for Wednesday.

The City of Nanaimo's parks and recreation department will again be offering a day camp for students aged five to 11 to attend due to the job action.

Camp Firefly costs $35 and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.
