Driver ticketed after girl struck by vehicle

A 17-year-old girl was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with head injuries after she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old man Monday.

The accident happened just after 4 p.m. a on 107th Street near Country Club Centre.

"The driver was issued with a ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for failure to yield to a pedestrian," said Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.

O'Brien did not have an update on the condition of the victim.
