Man dies after fall from Bastion Street bridge
A Nanaimo area man died Friday after he fell from the Bastion Street bridge.
The incident happened at about 10 p.m. when the man fell about 20 metres from the bridge which serves as an overpass above Terminal Avenue.
Nanaimo RCMP rerouted traffic away from the area while they investigated the scene. They turned the case over to the B.C. Coroners Service after their investigation indicated no foul play was involved in the incident.
The victim has so far only been identified as a 45-year-old man from the Nanaimo area.
Matt Brown, Vancouver Island regional coroner, said Tuesday the coroner's investigation is still underway as the incident has so far not been classified as an accident or a suicide.
