VIU appoints new arts and humanities dean
Ross MacKay has gone from interim leader of Vancouver Island University's faculty of arts and humanities to dean of the department.
MacKay, who holds a bachelor's degree in English and Canadian studies from Mount Allison University, a master's in English literature from York University and a doctoriate in English literature from York University, has served as interim dean of the department since last January.
A news release last week announced that he was appointed as dean of the department.
"I am very gratified to have been appointed dean of arts and humanities and to be able to continue my service to the faculty in this new capacity," he said, in a press release. "It is a privilege to have the opportunity to assume this leadership role."
MacKay has also worked as a writing consultant at the Native Law Centre at the University of Saskatchewan and served as former vice-president of the VIU Faculty Association.
