The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a commercial diving incident on the weekend.

Robert Wayne Antifave, 51, of Lantzville, died Saturday while diving commercially for geoducks from a boat off Haida Gwaii.

Crew aboard the boat noticed Antifave was in medical distress when he ascended from a dive.

He was evacuated by air to Queen Charlotte Hospital, but could not be resuscitated.

The B.C. Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC are continuing their investigations into his death.
