Police try to reunite owners with stolen items
Nanaimo Mounties are trying to reunite stolen items with their owners.
The property was stolen from vehicles parked in the Vista View Crescent area near Hammond Bay Road between 11 p.m. July 5 and 4 a.m. July 6.
Police recovered the items after a victim of one of the vehicle break-ins provided descriptions of two men she had seen in the area.
Investigators tracked down two men matching the descriptions. Both suspects were carrying backpacks containing about 60 items allegedly stolen from at least six vehicles that had been broken in to.
Items seized by police included iPhones, knives, bear spray, GPS units, ear phones, flashlights, cellphone chargers, clothing, a sling shot, cigarettes and other articles.
Some of the items have been returned to their owners, but more property is waiting to be claimed.
Anyone whose vehicle was broken in to in the area during the time period of the thefts is asked call Const. Tim Bedard at Nanaimo RCMP detachment at 250-754-2345.
