Pawson Park revitalization continues
Residents pitched in to beautify Pawson Park with a fruit tree planting project this week.
The tree planting on Wednesday was part of the second stage of the park’s revitalization plan.
Phase 1 was completed in 2011 and included new playground equipment, a washroom facility upgrade with additional storage for summer programs, and a trail. It also included a community art project with painted garden panels, painted recycled bowling balls and a mural.
Pawson Park has been a city green space since 1938 and was named in hounour of John Pawson, who was Mayor of Nanaimo in 1880.
