Nanaimo park falls short in contest

Nanaimo's Bowen Park couldn't compete with the vast assortment of public spaces in Canada.

The inner-city park did not make the short list of public spaces in the annual Great Places in Canada competition. Judging was based on online votes and opinions of an expert panel of judges.

Last year, Nanaimo's Commercial Street won for the greatest street in Canada in the same contest, hosted by the Canadian Institute of Planners.
