Winter rites of passage

Vancouver Island University bestowed bachelor of arts degrees in business administration, education, interior design, music in jazz studies, science, fisheries and aquaculture and tourism management this week.
Approximately 100 students received their degrees at afternoon ceremonies held at the Port Theatre Thursday and Friday.
More than 50 students were also awarded masters degrees in business administration.
The ceremonies opened with welcomes and blessings from Snuneymuxw First Nation elders and were followed up by receptions at the Coast Bastion Inn.
