Nanaimo schools open, university closed

Nanaimo's public schools are open despite snowfall overnight.

The school district says schools are open and regular bus routes are running, although special needs buses are not running today due to several centimetres of snow accumulation.

Vancouver Island University classes are cancelled today (Jan. 18) and the university is evaluating whether it will open for night classes, depending on weather developments throughout the day.
