Crash sends drivers to hospital
A 46-year-old Nanaimo woman faces charges of driving too fast for road conditions following a head-on crash on the Inland Island Highway near Parksville Monday.
Oceanside RCMP responded to the crash shortly after 7 a.m. Witnesses reported an older-model Volkswagen Jetta crossed the centre median into southbound traffic, hitting a Chevrolet Cobalt.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. The driver of the Jetta and the 19-year-old male driving the Colbalt were transported by ambulance to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP remind drivers to slow down and use caution when road visibility is impaired by rain.
