Firefighters attend small grass fire
Nanaimo Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire Tuesday at about 1:20 p.m. in the field adjacent to Quarterway Elementary School.
Rick Kwasnecha, fire inspector, said several teenagers were seen by nearby residents prior to the fire being reported.
The fire, which was about five metres by 16 metres and located on a small hill that runs along Townsite Road, did not threaten any structures and was quickly extinguished.
"It was a slow-moving fire, but it did catch a bit of the bush on the other side of the fence," said Kwasnecha.
