City planning 10th anniversary of aquatic centre

A decade ago, many members of the aquatic staff with the City of Nanaimo were busy getting ready for the grand opening of the then-new Nanaimo Aquatic Centre.

They’re now busy getting ready for the 10-year anniversary celebration on Saturday (June 4). Everyone is invited to the open house between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

There are no formal ceremonies planned, but lots of activities and events throughout the day.

Activities planned include: aqua-fit sessions, lessons, stroke correction, spring board demonstrations, free weight room orientation, training tips, informational displays, a dunk tank, life guard rodeo and more. Cake and refreshments will be served.

The Nanaimo Aquatic Centre is located at 741 Third St., within the newly dedicated Larry McNabb Sport Zone. For information about the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre or the event, please call 250-756-5200 or visit .
