Council OKs development permit for off-campus housing
Nanaimo city council approved a development permit to allow for construction of a 25-unit student housing development at 440 Wakesiah Ave.
Once constructed, the facility will be the first off-campus housing project in Nanaimo. It is being built by Great Western Developments Ltd. to offer more housing options for students who attend Vancouver Island University.
Harewood Neighbourhood Association supports the facility, and encourages the student housing project to have appropriate adult managers as well as a signed Good Neighbours agreement with homeowners in the immediate vicinity.
