News Bulletin among the best newspapers in B.C.
The Nanaimo News Bulletin continues to set the standard for excellence in community newspapers.
The News Bulletin is again one of three finalists for general excellence in the largest circulation category of the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspapers Association's annual Ma Murray Awards.
The News Bulletin was also a finalist last year, while Melissa Fryer won first place in the Arts and Culture Writing category for her story about the E.J. Hughes Malaspina Mural and its significance to Nanaimo.
Last year, the News Bulletin also picked up national honours, through the Canadian Community Newspapers Association, winning second place for best front page in the largest circulation category, and also earning a blue ribbon, recognizing general excellence. Sales representative Teresa McKinley was also recognized last year with a second place award in the Best Ad Design category for newspapers with circulations 12,500 and greater.
For this year's awards, which recognize work published in 2010, the News Bulletin is up against two other Black Press newspapers, the Surrey-North Delta Leader and the Kelowna Capital News.
The awards will be handed out on April 30 at the River Rock Casino Resort.
