Crews building sets ahead of filming in downtown Nanaimo

Diana Krall Plaza being tranformed

There are no lights and no cameras just yet, but there is action in downtown Nanaimo as crews build sets ahead of filming.

On Wednesday, May 1, a set construction team was transforming Diana Krall Plaza at the corner of Commercial and Wharf streets where they were erecting a green faux brick building while other crews worked across the street on the side of the Ashlar Lodge building at Commercial and Skinner streets.

Wharf Street was closed, as was the public washoom in Diana Krall Plaza, but otherwise Commercial Street downtown businesses including Coastal Community Credit Union and the Vancouver Island Regional Library’s Harbourfront branch all remained open.

Set-up, filming and take-down will continue until the end of May and there will be temporary closures of Commercial Street and businesses as filming proceeds May 6-17.
