Pharmacists ease holiday stress

The B.C. Pharmacy Association is encouraging travellers to talk to their pharmacist prior to embarking on summer holidays.

While caught up in the excitement of planning a holiday, consider visiting a pharmacist for advice on medications.

Pharmacists can assist with medication inquiries such as travelling in different time zones and amending dosage schedules. They also advise residents on whether taking certain prescriptions or over-the-counter meds would cause a reaction if exposed to sunlight, heat or alcohol.

“Whether you’ve got a chronic condition or just want to be prepared in the event of an emergency, seeking out your pharmacist ahead of time can save you a lot of time and money when abroad,” said Marnie Mitchell, association CEO.
