Short fiction contest aids Island writers

Cash prizes are available for the winning entries in Nanaimo Arts Council’s annual short fiction contest.

For the seventh year, writers of all ages living on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands can submit stories of up to 2,000 words in junior, youth and adult categories.

In addition to cash prizes, bursaries for creative writing courses at Vancouver Island University will also be awarded.

Entry forms are available at the arts council gallery at Nanaimo North Town Centre or online at www.nanaimoartscouncil.ca.

Deadline is March 1. Fee is $15 per submission.
