Rhythm and blues music takes centre stage at the Queen’s this Friday (Feb. 24).

The R&B Allstars, a 12-piece band from Vancouver, return to Nanaimo for an evening show.

The band first formed in the 1980s and become known for wearing signature white tuxedos. R&B Allstars enjoyed a 20-year career before disbanding.

Prior to the split the group had garnered a following performing in venues such as the Town Pump and Commodore and opened for acts coming to Vancouver including James Brown, Chuck Berry, War and others.

The Allstars reformed in 2013. The group now has seven of the original members and five newcomers. Over the years the band has had more than 30 different members.

The band has put its own unique stamp on recordings of Choo Choo Cha Boogie and others.

The R&B Allstars, presented by TLC Entertainment, perform at the Queen’s Friday (Feb. 24) at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
