Artists have one week left to get their submissions in for an upcoming art show at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

From Feb. 7 to April 4 the Nanaimo Arts Council is presenting All About Animals at the VICC’s Piper’s Lagoon Lobby. The deadline to enter work in Thursday, Jan. 24 at midnight.

“It’s a large space so I’m looking for large pieces that are going to make big statements,” said NAC volunteer Delie Lawley, who is facilitating the show.

She took on the role when she noticed that the space was being neglected.

“I thought it was just such a shame to have such a beautiful wall empty when there’s so much art in this community,” Lawley said.

She said the show is “open to anything that I can hang on the wall,” and so far she’s received paintings, photographs and sculptural works.

The NAC is also seeking art work for display at the Port Theatre. Entries for that exhibit are due Feb. 1. For more information about both shows and how to submit, click here.
