Boodaboom will will play a variety of hits that will keep audience members on their toes, and tapping those toes.

Theo Massop, Gabe Vadas and Pete Surridge will play a show called Rock, Regge and Beyond this Saturday (Aug. 5) at the Well Public House at Casino Nanaimo.

According to an event press release, the “power trio” Boodaboom weaves dance-party favourites from the past with more modern hit songs, interspersed with some numbers from Massop’s previous albums.

Some of the musicians likely to be covered include the Tragically Hip, Johnny Cash, Ziggy Marley, Doug and the Slugs, One Republic, R.E.M., ZZ Top, U2 and more.

New songs by the band include Magic Pill, a bouncy reggae tune, and In the Dark, an emotional rock number, will show the band’s diversity yet keep the audience engaged, the press release notes.

“Join us for a shoe-shuffling, get-down-dancing good time. A night of sharing musical diversity with a few twists, turns and surprises.”

Saturday’s show will be a homecoming for the local group, which has been “bouncing around the Island” for the last eight months.

There is no cover for Saturday’s show, slated to start at 9:30 p.m. The concert is for ages 19-plus only.
