Glass creations on display during annual show
A menagerie of glass creations will be on display at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre at the end of the month.
The centre hosts the third annual Island Glass Art Spring Show and Sale March 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Dodd Narrows room.
The show and sale features the work of more than 17 glass artists from the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. The pieces include stained, kiln cast, fused, lamp work, sand carved and furnace-blown glass.
The pieces showcased range from the artistic and decorative to functional and architectural.
“This show began in 2001 with glass artists looking for new ways to connect with the public,” said glass artist Christopher Smith in a press release. “We set the show up as an arts festival with the artists at their displays. More than 400 visitors enjoyed our fall show and urged us to do an encore in the spring.”
Admission is by donation to the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank.
