Wellington jazz students earn top honours

Jazz Academy students from Wellington Secondary School earned honours at the Envisions Jazz Festival in Surrey earlier this month.

The Grade 9/10 jazz band, directed by Carmella Luvisotto and Steve Jones, won Best Junior Jazz Band.

Kenton Dick was named Most Outstanding Junior Saxophone Player and Junior Musician. Dick, Tiana Dick and Ethan Olynyk were name Most Outstanding Junior Combo. Olynyk also won Most Outstanding Junior Drummer. Adam Chantree won Most Outstanding Junior Piano Player and Cody Anthony won Most Outstanding Senior Vibraphone Player. Josh Rey was named Most Outstanding Senior Saxophone Player.
