Love and heartache theme of concert

Love and heartache have been themes of poets and song writers from the beginning of time.

A Cappella Plus choir’s Valentine’s Day concert features a wide variety of songs portraying all aspects of love from the 16th century piece Je ne L’ose Dire, by Pierre Certon, to Adele’s heartbreaking 2011 song Someone Like You.

Timeless classics like Mood Indigo, My Foolish Heart and Someone to Watch Over Me will be on the program, as well as a traditional song from Scotland and a spiritual from the American south.

The concert, My Foolish Heart, is set for Sunday (Feb. 17), 2:30 p.m., at Brechin United Church on Estevan Road.

Tickets are $15; $10/students and available at Fascinating Rhythm, the Quilted Duck and the door.

After the concert will be a silent auction and refreshments for guests.
