Pianist joins forces with violinist for concert

Pianist Sarah Hagen will romance the keys during an upcoming performance at the Port Theatre.

She performs with special guest Martin Chalifour, a violinist and concert master of the Los Angeles Philharmonic on Tuesday (Feb. 5). Hagen has performed concerts both nationally and internationally.

She has been a faculty member of Comox Valley Youth Music for more than 10 years and was awarded the Comox Valley’s Cultural Ambassador of the Year in 2006.

Chalifour has been the concertmaster of the philharmonic since 1995 and is also a professor at Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. He has performed with several Canadian orchestras over the years including the Vancouver Symphony in 2010-11.

Tickets are $25/$22 members and groups/$15 students and are available by calling 250-754-8550, at the Port Theatre box office located at 125 Front St., or www.porttheatre.com.
