Chamber orchestra show features oboist
Classical music will drift to the rafters Saturday (Nov. 10) during Oboe to Go by the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra at Brechin United Church.
Musical director Karl Rainer will lead the orchestra during the performance, which will feature Locatelli’s Christmas Concerto, Britten’s Simple Symphony, Finzi’s Romance and Rachmaninov’s Vocalise. Oboe to Go features Pippa Williams, playing the Marcello Oboe Concerto. Williams studied the oboe with Melvin Berman and Richard Dorsey and piano with William Aide at the University of Toronto. She has been the principal oboist with the Vancouver Island Symphony since 1995 and is the music director of the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra and a faculty member of the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music.
Oboe to Go is Saturday (Nov. 10) 7:30 p.m. at Brechin United Church. Tickets are $20 for adults/ $10 for students and children under 12 are free, available at the Port Theatre office, located at 125 Front St., or call 250-754-8550.
