Women of Note event celebrates value of arts in Nanaimo
Notable Nanaimo women are getting the nod during a luncheon Thursday (Nov. 1) at the Nanaimo Museum.
Women of Note, sponsored by the Vancouver Island Symphony, was created to recognize the importance of art and culture in the community.
“We are coming together to celebrate, support and create awareness of arts and culture in Nanaimo," said Marianne Turley, co-chairman of Women of Note.
It starts with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a speech on The Value of Arts in Nanaimo by special guest Sasha Angus, CEO of the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation.
Tickets for the event are $32 and are available by calling 250-754-0177 or e-mailing admin@vancouverislandsymphony.com. Money raised supports the symphony’s 2013 education shows.
