It ain’t easy being a rapper. It’s even tougher if you’re Canadian.

But that hasn’t stopped East Coast hip hop artist Classified from recording and producing material for his own label HalfLife.

His second album, Trial and Error, released in 2003, featured other prominent Canadian rappers Choclair and Maestro, making it one of the highest selling independent rap albums of the year in Canada.

Since then, he won a MuchMusic Video Award, two East Coast Music Awards and received multiple Juno Award nominations for best rap recording.

He is touring his latest album, While You Were Sleeping, with a stop at the Queen’s in Nanaimo Wednesday (Jan. 16). Tickets $15 at the Queen’s and Music Maxx.
