Musicians raise money to fund documentary

Nanaimo musicians are raising money to help make a documentary about the Security and Prosperity Partnership.

Gerry Barnum, Donna Konsorado, Jerry Paquette, Joan Wallace, Alice Frank-Campbell, Penny Sidor, Margaret Murphy, Saje and Jeremy McDonald will perform at a fundraising concert Saturday (Nov. 24) to raise money to help Paul Manly finish his documentary Trading Democracy for Corporate Profits.

Manly shot the video identifying three Quebec Provincial Police officers pretending to be protestors at the Montebello conference, where the leaders of Canada, U.S. and Mexico met to discuss the partnership.

The partnership is a series of agreements between the three countries to make cross-border trade more compatible. Critics say it will erode Canada’s sovereignty.

Money raised from the concert will help cover Manly’s production costs. People can also pre-order the video at a cost of $25, or have their names listed in the credits for $50.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church.

Tickets $10.
